Background:

Moledina Commodities, Inc. was established in California, the United States in 1982 as a subsidiary of its parent company, Rashid Moledina & Co. (MSA) Limited of Mombasa, Kenya.

n 1926, Mr. Rashid Moledina, who had emigrated from India in 1906, started a green coffee export firm in Kenya which continues as a strong business today.

Mr. Mohamed Moledina is President of Moledina Commodities, Inc., which is based in Flower Mound (suburb of Dallas), Texas. The firm specializes in importing top quality green coffees from throughout the world, with a strong emphasis on East African Coffees.

Mohamed was born in Kenya and was educated in England where he completed Post Graduate Studies in Business. He is the third generation of his family to work in the coffee business. He imports directly from the origin and regularly visits the source countries. This keeps him in close contact with the farmers and exporters to enable him to better control the consistency in the quality and the quantity he imports.

Mohamed was a Director of the Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA) from 1994 to 1996 and Chairman of its Long Range Planning Committee. During this time, he helped to establish the industry's scientific research foundation, the Specialty Coffee Institute, where he continued as a Trustee until June 1998.
