Introduction:

Coronet Consult Limited is a private limited liability company that was incorporated in Uganda in August 2006 as a business consulting and trade merchandising company.

The company, which is headquartered in Kampala, Uganda offers trade finance advisory, collateral management, logistics as well as general merchandising (import & export) services for local and regional markets.

Services offered:

The company services are structured around three core competencies as follows:

1. Coronet trade finance advisory services

Coronet provides solid technical expertise to support investment and credit access to our clients in the agricultural sector in the following areas:

• Agricultural competitiveness
• Agricultural productivity
• Food security
• Gender and rural poverty alleviation
• Policy dialogue facilitation and public - private policy forums
• Producer organization strategies
• Small farmer production

Our proposition for credit support to trade related transactions aims at achieving the following for our clients:

• Improved knowledge in international trade dealings, the documentation required to secure these dealings and the methods of payment relating thereto.
• Improved capacity to structure trade related transactions and to provide a comprehensive understanding of the underlying risks, legal requirements, potential exposures and documentation, so as to pursue limited recourse short term self liquidating financings.
• Enhanced understanding of field operations, procedure and documentation for effective trade finance deal structuring.
• Better understanding of the risk mitigating structures available to secure trade finance deals
• Provision of solutions to issues raised by trade finance operatives and how to overcome concerns relating to arranging trade related facilities

2. Coronet collateral management services

Our collateral management services are designed to support trade finance credit transactions where our clients, especially in the trading and agricultural sector, are unable to offer the traditional forms of collateral security for loans to support their businesses. 

Our services apply the use of warehouse receipts to provide a key credit support function that allows a financier to lend against a trader’s trading assets instead of fixed asset collateral.  

Under Collateral Management Services, Coronet offers credit support to financiers and traders operating the following financial products:

• Trade finance (letters of credit) facilities
• Tax and freight facility
• Agricultural warehouse receipt system financing

3. Coronet logistics

Our logistics business was formed from the need to integrate our collateral management services to secure and support the trading operations of our clients.  Many times, before goods are placed under our collateral custodial mandate, our clients may also require us to monitor and inspect the documentation as well as manage the logistics to ensure security of their goods.  This means that we have to get involved in the monitoring and clearing of goods, declaration of documentation etc at the customs points of entry and storage.  It is only if we have full control of this process outside the normal custodial services that we can achieve the maximum security required of our collateral management operations for our clients.
