Ugacof Ltd. has been a coffee processor and exporter since 1994.  Located in Bweyogerere, Kampala, we have extensive knowledge of the internal and export markets and a worldwide network of buyers for Robusta and Arabica coffee. We export to all continents and produce all usual Arabica and Robusta grades. Special types are available at buyers’ request. Samples can be sent for appreciation and testing.

UGACOFThe company’s logistics team, Ugatrans, offers top quality transport and shipping services, providing regular updates on the cargo position.  Uganda being a land locked country, Ugatrans uses both rail and road to deliver cargo efficiently to Mombasa or Dar-es-Salaam ports and thereafter ship the cargo to its final destination. Ugatrans has first class contacts with major shipping lines and can find solutions for all logistics needs.

Ugacof Ltd. is committed to improving efficiencies in the supply chain with the objective of giving better prices to thousands of small coffee farmers throughout Uganda. Aimed at enhancing both quality and yield, we started a washed Robusta project with mobile washing units that move around the country during the coffee seasons. Demonstration plots and training programs have been developed for farmers and farmer groups. Our washed Robusta production is called “The Pearl”.

UGACOFBy purchasing commodities directly from the farmer, maintaining the company’s high standards, retaining skilled staff and investing in machinery and logistical support, both coffee quality and delivery times have been and will remain a strength and priority of Ugacof Ltd.

We employ dedicated, permanent staff and several hundred casual day workers, about half of them being women. Community conscious, Ugacof Ltd. has initiated schemes dedicated to helping its workers and staff. An AIDS/HIV scheme is in place to treat affected workers anonymously enabling them to continue having an active working life under free medical supervision. Similarly, a loan scheme has been in place for a number of years helping many to combat personal economic and domestic difficulties.

On May 26th 2007, we organized an HIV/AIDS Voluntary Counseling and Testing Day in partnership with USAID Business PART Project.  This event attracted a very large number of staff members as well as their families and community surrounding our premises. We also organized the training of our in-house nurse on specific AIDS treatment, the training of 19 permanent staff as peer educators and printed thousands of leaflets addressing issues relevant to HIV/AIDS, which have being distributed to the company’s coffee suppliers and in their surrounding communities throughout Uganda.

UGACOFFurthermore, at the 8th President’s Export Award Ceremony on 5th October, 2007 at Hotel Africana in Kampala, Ugacof Limited was distinguished with the Diamond Award for being the best overall categories exporter of Uganda in terms of foreign currency earner.
